OUR STORY

Back in 2016 we decided to embark on a new adventure and we purchased an established Pet Shop called Hudson's Pet Supplies Est. 1938 which had been ran by the same family from opening until their retirement in 2016.

We had a vision, a mission; to educate pet owners in pet health and to introduce Raw Feeding into the area.

Our Raw Feeding Journey started when our, at the time, 6 year old Shih-tzu; Blossom was declining in health, quickly, she refused every "dog food" on the market and lived on boiled ham and cheese, she was quite obviously deficient in Nutrients and after following failing advice from our vets we decided to do our own research. There had to be another way? ...

... Then we discovered Raw Feeding, and it terrified us—raw meat? Salmonella? E. Coli? But we were willing to try anything.

Not wanting to get it wrong, I (Emma) began researching. Running our first business wasn’t challenging enough, so I pursued my first diploma, using Blossom as my guinea pig. What followed was pure MAGIC! We started with pre-made minces, then moved to DIY, adding herbs, veggies, probiotic powders, and Skin & Coat supplements. She started DANCING for her food—dancing! After refusing foods for 6 years, she was now clearing every bowl.

I believe she knew what she needed. In the weeks that followed, her coat grew thicker, her itching reduced, her appetite returned, and her digestion stabilised. My curiosity grew, so I completed a second Level 3 Diploma in Nutrition. Our book collection expanded and still grows—there’s always new research and knowledge. Some of my favorites include:

The Forever Dog, Feeding Dogs, Raw and Natural Nutrition for Dogs, and Canine Nutrigenomics. I recommend any dog owner read at least one to better understand their pet’s physiological needs.

Alongside Blossom, we have Olive, Willow (our pugs), and Nacho (our Rottweiler). They all started their raw journey from weaning, and the health differences are incredible.

Back to Blossom: we gained 6 beautiful years of her life by switching her to a natural diet. She spent 6 years feeling healthier, truly enjoying her food—it was worth every sleepless night of research. Sadly, we lost Blossom in September 2022 to Mitral Valve Disease, diagnosed in July 2022. We miss her deeply, but we thank her for her loyalty. Without Blossom, we wouldn’t be here today, helping thousands of owners lead their dogs to more natural, holistic lifestyles.

Now in 2025, we’re still serving our local area with Natural Treats, Foods, and Health Supplements, along with free specialised advice from all at The Dog's Deli

After 7–8 years running our shop, our mission remains the same: to educate customers and help them keep happy, healthy pets.
